Why librarians are so strict

Librarians are so strict because without strictly following and enforcing the rules set in place, such as being quite in the library, returning books on time, returning books to their proper place, etc, others who are yearning for knowledge will have a much more difficult time doing so, thereby making it more difficult for those who don't go to good schools to fall even more behind those who have more privilege. Librarians are heros, not the subject of a stupid joke!

How to tell a good joke

Zev DEFINITELY doesn't know how to do this!

Respect Is a Virtue

Zev indeed does not know that respect is a virtue.

Asking a Negative Question

Asking a negative question is not conducive unless there's a visual component to judge by. For example, "Is anyone not here for Shabbat?" is only going to be answered by those who are not here for Shabbat. Anybody who is in fact here for Shabbat assumes the question isn't directed towards her and remains silent. HOWEVER, let's say that you were talking to all of us in a room and said "Please raise your hand if you're not here for Shababt." In this example, by asking the (possibly more answerable negative), you get a clear demonstration and answer to your question with seconds. A good tip to know.
